Not-Quite Sick

Last weekend, I was sick. It started on Thursday (the 7th. by "last weekend" I mean the last complete weekend we had. I know it's Sunday night, but right now it's still "this weekend". Tomorrow morning "this weekend" will turn into "last weekend", but for the intent of this blog posting, "last weekend" is specifically February 9 and 10, 2008. Aren't you glad I clarified all of that?) when I felt tired and worn down. Friday, my brain didn't work (and I missed my breakfast with Shannon and Jen, which I'd really looked forward to. Sigh). Saturday and Sunday I was fairly useless, and I actually slept until 2 pm one of the days. I have no idea which at this point, but I do know that I desperately needed the rest. By Monday, I was fairly human and have remained so. EXCEPT FOR ONE THING. My eyes hurt. They feel like I've been in an overchlorinated pool all day. Like I looked directly at the sun. Like I rubbed sand into them. Like someone made me cry for days. THEY HURT. And that makes me sad and angry, but mostly it just sucks because nobody gets sympathy because their stupid eyes just hurt. And I'm a girl that loves a little sympathy. Not that I ever get any.

Oh yeah, Mr. LT is sick with whatever it is that I had last weekend. Poor guy. I don't think he's gotten out of his recliner more than three times all weekend. I feel badly that he has what I had. I hope his eyes won't hurt for a week. If they do, I'll try to at least be sympathetic. Or something.

Moving Sucks

Who wants to come help us pack? There's soooo much to get done, and so little time! I have to get Burger registered at the new school, get the utilities situation sorted out (thanks for the advice, Jake and everyone else!), change our address, change the address for our stupidly high number of magazine subscriptions (and I know there's a website out there that can help me do it. Now I have to add "google that website" to my list), pack boxes, find out about speech therapy services for Zippy, and more more more. All while working full time and going to NYC way too many times.

The good news is that I'm really looking forward to moving to Bend. I've loved every second I've spent in the area, and people there are nice, real people. Everyone I've met there feels like they could become a friend - and there's a real sense of community there. I cannot wait to live there, so I'll suffer through the pain of the move to get there.

One side note - as I was driving in Bend on Sunday there was a guy (I assume) in front of me in an obnoxious yellow hummer (sorry, but really. Who needs that vehicle except the military?) who was being very agressive revving his engine while tailgating the car in front of him. Shame on you, Mr. Yellow Hummer man. You're one of the main reasons we're done with California and its perfect weather and great beaches after two years. Yuk.

We're moving

Quick update: We sold our house, to close late next month (August). We had our offer on a new house accepted. We'll close on that a few days after the other. We're moving. OMG. Again.

Home for the Week

This week I'm working from home, and it's a nice change. I really love the company I'm working with right now, I just wish they weren't clear on the other side of the country. Burger, Zippy, and hubby seem happy to have me at home, and it's so good to just get to be here.
My parents are in town this week, and they don't know that I'll be here, so it should be a fun surprise for them to get to see me unexpectedly - my mother's birthday is this week, and I really wanted to be here to see her, and I'm so pleased I was able to make it work.
