Blowing My Mind

Argh! Our buyer didn't get the loan. Well, she got the loan, but they wanted her to put $$ in escrow before they'd send the docs over to the escrow folks to get signed. So the lender approved the loan, the buyer put her funds into escrow, and then the lender discontinued the program the buyer had originally applied for! So the buyer had to apply for a different program, and that's the one for which she didn't get approval.

Or something like that. The story changes every hour.

We've struck a deal with the buyer that will give her three more weeks to get a loan, and if not, we'll keep a not-insignificant (but not enough to make you gasp) amount of cash from her escrow deposit.

So three weeks. November 8 is the drop-dead date.

Argh again.

We really really really didn't want to move that late in the year. But the second we can go, we're outta here. Fingers crossed.

Bummer...the waiting game...

Here's a site to check out. They post all the changes by MLS, plus the summarize by neighborhood. Good insight when we were buying.

Really, though, by waiting to buy, you will have more choices. I've heard everyone hates to sell in winter so you will find the sellers that have to get rid of the house. You are in good shape.

Best wishes as you close...

JB - the ones who rented near your Bend house

Same advice - hang in there! Believe it or not we went through something similar when we bought our land here. Our mortgage person totally dropped the ball and we found out a few days before closing that we had no loan. But our seller was not in a position to give us more time, as there were other buyers in the wings. We beat down doors and managed to get a loan closed in a matter of days.

You seriously need some sort of house exorcism!

Oh, I forgot to tell you last time. I didn't want to say anything while the deal was still on, but the house you were looking at in Bend backs to a busy road. We lived 6 houses down and it was really a bummer...you couldn't even have a BBQ during the summer without constantly hearing the traffic. They are doing construction on the road right now...and I think there are plans for expansion.

So, in the end, you are better off.

Thanks, almost-neighbor! I knew about the street, but didn't think it was quite that busy. Good to know that we dodged that bullet, at least.
