Getting ready to move
Cable internet and phone service - ordered
DirecTV - waiting for a call back
Gas, Electric - need to arrange (i don't even remember if there IS gas at the new place. check that.)
Schools - called (need to call the schools here to get current records)
Boxes - over 75 packed, who knows how many more are needed
Moving truck - arranged. whew.
I know there are 476 other things I need to do, but my mind is blank. Hold me.

There's a good listing online of other places you'll need to contact at The Bulletin's website. Almost at the bottom, on the left-hand side, titled "Newcomer Info".
Congrats on the big move!!!
Hi...I just came across your blog... Wow. Bend, Oregon. Look up a place called Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch. It's an amazing program in Bend Oregon! If you have kids... they'll LOVE it there.
Hope all goes well with the move.
Blessings,
Dr. Krista
Don't know what part you're moving to. Out here in the boonies outside Bend we all have propane tanks, not gas lines.
If you don't have a GPS in the car, I highly recommend one. It takes a lot of the stress out of traveling around an unfamiliar town.
If you're planning any external improvements (like paving the driveway, painting the house, or whatever), plan to do it in the next few months, or you may have to wait until next year when the snow melts. :)
U-Haul and maybe other places has packing tape in different colors. You can use that to color code which room boxes go into. They also have stuff like narrow plastic wrap in a long roll, that you can quickly wrap around rolled up rugs or dressers or whatever to keep them closed up without sticking to it. That came in real handy.
There are also slipcovers for recliners, sofas and mattresses to protect them during shipping.
How confident are you in your moving company? You might Google them to make sure they aren't one of those companies that hit you up for more money at the destination or they refuse to unload your stuff.
On the drive here, we like to stop in Klamath Falls (K-Falls) to gas up and get fast food. The pickings get scarce north of there.
Got any more questions? :)
*hugs*
Thanks, Dave. We're moving to SW Bend. Good to not have to worry about the gas company.
I appreciate the GPS advice - luckily both the hubby and I are pretty good with directions, and there were several times when I was out looking at houses that I had to tell my realtor how to get somewhere. I'm feeling pretty confident about getting around town.
No improvements planned right now - whew. It's nice to buy a home in move-in condition (we spent 3 months fixing up our current place before we moved in).
The "moving company" is actually a trucking company that a friend of a friend owns. We'll do the lifting, they'll do the driving - which suits us just fine. We've moved ourselves the last two times, and it's nice to have someone else driving for a change.
We stopped in Klamath Falls the last time up, and I imagine we'll do so again this time. I'm just glad neither of us will be driving a rental truck when we're headed through there!
THANKS!!!
Cool.
I don't know what the gas situation is in SW Bend.
I'm excellent with directions. I can read a map easily, and I almost always know which direction I'm currently facing. What surprised me when I first played with a GPS was how liberating it was. You can deviate from your directions at whim, because you know the GPS will route you back to where you want to go, and it tells you how long until you reach your destination. Plus, you can see map features like parks and lakes that are near your position that you can't see from the road. :)
Garbage, water, sewer, too! Good luck with the packing. On the road, I really like Firehouse Pizza in Chemult (541-365-4444 if you want to call and order ahead). Take care!
We live in SW Bend so drop me a note when you arrive. Don't forget water and sewer too. Avion water covers SW Bend and Cascade Natural Gas is the gas company. City of Bend will leave you a note about sewer service.
Welcome to Bend!
Y'all are AWESOME. Thanks so much - you're helping prove that our decision to come to Bend was the right one!
Sounds like you're coming along. Open house for school is Thursday, Aug 30, 6 pm - 7pm. Classrooms will be open, class lists posted, etc. I counldn't remember if your little one is entering PR Elem this year.
Trash is Kelvic disposal.
